The DSC TL2603GR was basically manufactured by DSC because of the dwindling use of land-line communication to Central Station Monitoring Services. These days more people use the cellular and internet networks for communicating than ever before. If the only thing you use a land-line for is for your security panel to communicate to a station and you really want to get rid of it then this is a great find for you!
The DSC TL2603GR combines the IP and GSM communication methods to make a dual-path communicator that acts as its own backup. When you install this in your panel you will have a fully redundant communication option. If the IP is your primary and it fails because of network issues then the GSM secondary will communicate the signals. You will never have to worry about the information being sent being compromised because all signals are 128-bit AES encrypted and secure.
You can also use DSC's DLS programming software to change system settings either locally or remotely. Whether it be changing zone information, user information, or any other system setting; you can do it with the TL2603GR and DLS.
The TL2603GR board does require a 5003C expansion cabinet.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of this product and it's extensive use of computer networking protocols, we are only able to offer limited technical support of this particular product. We can assist with basic installation and programming, but be forewarned, our support people are alarm techs
not computer network techs. If you are not very capable with networks, we recommend the much simpler TL150 model.
