The new Lynx Touch L5100 wireless alarm systems from Honeywell Security is the newest version of Honeywell's Touch Screen alarm panels.
This is basically a slightly updated Lynx L5000 that has been made to include some icons and features that integrate with Honeywell's Total Connect monitoring service with the appropriate add-on modules. It can display the weather (one day and five day forecasts), traffic, news in your local area (if Total Connect service is being used). The touch screen is still as stunning as ever with a 4.7" screen and a 16 million color display.
Not only has the display been setup a little differently to display the Total Connect features and home automation displays, but Honeywell has also made this unit capable of accepting in some very useful modules.
First off, they have made this panel able to control wireless home automation devices via Z-Wave technology by making the L5100-ZWAVE add-on module. The L5100-ZWAVE will allow you to control:
- Up to three thermostats
- Four door locks
- 40 devices (lights, switches and lamp modules)
You can control these devices by setting up schedules and also there are some locks that, if you user code is entered into these locks, will unlock the door and disarm the system at the same time.
There are also a couple more devices that you can add to the L5100 like the new GSMVLP5-4G cellular communicator which sends signal to a central station monitoring service through the 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, if they are available in your area, making it lightning fast! Also available is the new L5100-WiFi IP communicator which will eliminate the need for running a CAT5 cable between your panel and your router for sending signal to a monitoring service via the internet.
